I only recommend material I have bought myself so that you can be sure I am only recommending books that I have purchased and used myself. I have split my listing into essential, should have and nice to have.

Essential :

Material that I think is essential for you to buy and study from in order to help you learn to play initially or improve your drum playing. These books and CD's should be owned by all drummers as part of their basic drumming reference collection so they can initially study from them and then return to them over time as a source of learning material as they continue to improve
